I will become platform and computer independent. I'm very close to being able to work from any computer anywhere in the world and I'm moving toward this goal by adopting web-based applications instead of desktop apps. I began this journey in June of 2006 when I started using Gmail. Email is a critical function. If I couldn't accomplish email independence, my dream of platform independence would soon be over.
It's hard to imagine something as pedestrian as email being exiting, but Gmail is one of those tools that makes you wonder how you ever managed to get along without it. If you haven't made the move to Gmail, hopefully, after reading this month's newsletter you'll be ready to make the leap. If you already use Gmail, read anyway. I've highlighted some features and options you might want to know about.

Without any specific theme, this week we will provide a lot of transitions from the personal collection of Papy. Fortunately, a new rotation started and new transitions from other authors have been provided (they should be available in the next upload, transitions from candace and babujess). They will be submitted soon and we're sure this entry will be a breath of fresh air. I hope that the transitions available to you this week will be helpful for your next movie project. In any case I hope that the transition 226-Afficheur gives you more ideas...

Now you know all you need to know about the user interface! Three weeks ago, you learned how to create your own effects with the HFX Tuto-5, thanks to Mr. Jos Roijakkers (JR-VIDEO). All you need to do now is to expand on those lessons to make your creations even more realistic and alive. This is the subject of Tuto-6, donated once again by Jos Roijakkers, translated into english by grendet, fine tuned and adapted to this website by Loosecannon.
You will learn how to combine individual items to move them simultaneously. You will learn how to play with shadows, blurs, and the trails left by the movement of objects. You will use the movements of the camera to move in space. All these enhancements are very interesting but consume a lot of power. We will study the results of your choices on the rendering time which depends on your setup and your choice of options.

Studio gives you the option to add a musical background to your project from an audio CD. Although this feature is interesting and works reasonably well, it may cause you some minor inconveniences. What are they?
First, it is common knowledge that Studio prefers the WAV format to any other audio format. With WAV, you avoid virtually any audio crashes. If a problem occurs, the system CD can often circumvent the obstacle. When you insert a CD into Studio, it generally converts the CD to a WAV file...
Moreover, it often happens that Studio will not recognize a CD that has already been used in another project. It may then be necessary to tweak the registry...
Finally, when you have almost completed and rendered your project, and you need to remove auxiliary files for one reason or another, you will realize that all your music loaded from the various CD's are gone with the auxiliary files. You may have to bring in all your CDs to Studio to restore the sound to your movie ..
So, to avoid all these little worries, take the time to transfer your music files to your hard drive. It's a winning situation for you as time spent in the transfer is only a minor inconvenience. If you are convinced, let yourself be guided by the tutorial we offer.
